bigger_stronger_faster_movi.jpgYou may or may not have heard about this, but there is a new documentary coming out soon about steroid use. It’s called “Bigger, Stronger, Faster” and by the looks of the trailer it’s definitely going to be one to watch.

I have always been an advocate of drug free sports, especially natural bodybuilding. I think this documentary will show just how much steroid use goes on behind closed doors in sports today.

Bigger, Stronger, Faster hits the box office on May 30th 2008. Definitely a must watch!

chest.jpgThe pectoral muscle group is one of the easiest to train. You have a huge array of big compound exercises that hit your chest from all angles, as well as loads of great isolation exercises to finish the chest off. But just like any other muscle group, the pecs hit plateaus and might need some extra stimulation to grow.

Today I’m going to post up some ways to pump up your chest workout! These are techniques that I’ve used before to bring up my chest and get through annoying plateaus.

grip_strength.gifThis is going to be the first entry in my “how to” series. I will be writing many how to guides in the future, hopefully answering a lot of the questions that the reader of this blog have. Today I’m going to be showing you how to improve your grip strength.

Grip strength is so important, not just for weight training but for many sports like rock climbing, MMA, wrestling, powerlifting, strongman etc. Good grip strength is essential for all weight trainers, and there are some good exercises available that will help you increase your gripping power!

jogging.jpgShould you do your cardio before or after your weight training? This is another question I’ve seen asked time and time again. For some reason (I have no idea why!), it has always been common place for weight training to follow cardio. This is the wrong way to do it, no matter what your goal, cardio should always be done after weight training and here’s why…

weight-gain-supplements.jpgIf you have a naturally skinny build like me, you’re probably no stranger to weight gain supplements! And if you’re a skinny build and you haven’t used weight gainers, now is the time to start! Weight gainers are great for thin guys looking to put on some serious mass. The reason being, when you’re thin and looking to bulk it’s all about getting enough calories. Fast metabolisms mean skinny builds need more calories that your average to put on some size.

So today I’m going to look at how to choose a good weight gain supplement. There are hundreds of weight gainers on the market, all ranging in price, calories and ingredients.

building-muscle.jpgIt’s Q&A time again! I got the same question 3 times this week, so I think I should address it here since the answer was the same for each of the 3 people that wrote in and asked the question. The questions all went something like this:

“I have been working out for X months. I have been training hard using X workout routine and taking X supplements . I am not getting any bigger!? I have put on [insert small weight here] pounds in [insert long time here]. I should be getting bigger but I’m not growing. Please help!”

weight-training.jpgNeed a reason to start weight training? I have put together a comprehensive list of the benefits of weight training. I have always said on this blog that everyone should be weight training, no matter what your goals.

Weight training helps you both lose and gain weight. Think about it like this, humans were not meant to be sitting in offices all day on computers. If you go back to our roots we had to hunt and gather food. Our bodies are build for exercises and strength, we just don’t use them in the right way. Weight training and cardiovascular training emulate what our bodies were build for.

creatinemyths.gif

Yesterday I was reading this thread on the Muscle & Strength Forum (great forum by the way) and I thought it was about time to make a post about creatine myths. Since I got into the gym in 2001 I have heard all sorts of stories about creatine. Some of them are so far fetched it’s laughable!

So I’m going to list all the creatine myths I can think of, and hopefully spread a good word to what really is an awesome supplement for muscle building and increasing strength. In fact, for several years creatine has been the most commonly used supplement by Olympic athletes.
