weight-gain-supplements.jpgIf you have a naturally skinny build like me, you’re probably no stranger to weight gain supplements! And if you’re a skinny build and you haven’t used weight gainers, now is the time to start! Weight gainers are great for thin guys looking to put on some serious mass. The reason being, when you’re thin and looking to bulk it’s all about getting enough calories. Fast metabolisms mean skinny builds need more calories that your average to put on some size.

So today I’m going to look at how to choose a good weight gain supplement. There are hundreds of weight gainers on the market, all ranging in price, calories and ingredients.

Yesterday I was reading this thread on the Muscle & Strength Forum (great forum by the way) and I thought it was about time to make a post about creatine myths. Since I got into the gym in 2001 I have heard all sorts of stories about creatine. Some of them are so far fetched it’s laughable!

So I’m going to list all the creatine myths I can think of, and hopefully spread a good word to what really is an awesome supplement for muscle building and increasing strength. In fact, for several years creatine has been the most commonly used supplement by Olympic athletes.

truemass.jpgIn the past you could say I’ve been a bit bias when it comes to weight gain supplements. The truth is I have tried a lot of weight gainers, and all of them apart from CytoGainer and N-Large II had at least 1 thing I didn’t like about them. Some tasted like ass, others didn’t mix well, and my pet hate with weight gainers, some were full of filler ingredients and hight in sugar and lactose.

I am lucky enough to have a friend who works at my local GNC, so he gets me good deals from time to time. He’s a big Cell Mass fan and said if I want to try it he can get me a real good deal. So why not!?

steak.jpgIf you want to grow bigger you have to eat more calories that you burn, every day. For some people that’s easy, but for others it can be a huge task! There are loads of ways you can ensure you get the calories you need to grow, even if you have a busy lifestyle. I have received a number of emails from readers telling me “it’s impossible to eat that much”, or “I don’t get time to eat that much”. If you have that problem, help is at hand!

Calories are essential for growth. Don’t get enough calories and you don’t grow, simple as that. So if you’re not prepared to eat the food and take the supplements that your body needs you may as well give up now. Not ready to give up? Great, here’s some tips for you!

hi-protein-bar.jpgI’ve always liked eating protein bars. I always have a few laying around the house, I keep some at work and I take them when I do other outdoor sports like hiking and mountain bike riding. I’ve tried a few over the years, about half of which I didn’t like the taste/texture of at all!

I recently came across this post over at the Supplements Explained site: best tasting protein bars. These guys tested about 20 top protein and nutritional bars on the market, definitely worth a read.

This past couple of weeks I’ve been getting a few emails about weight gain supplements. There are a lot of weight gain products on the market and some of the readers of this blog are confused about what weight gain products they should be using.

I’m a true ectomorph, 6′2″, very slim build, thin frame, long stringy muscles. I am no stranger to weight gain products. My body type requires a lot of calories to grow. When I started weight training I was 126 pounds, now I am 205. Weight gain shakes have been a staple in my diet for the past 3 years.

supplements.jpgI am a firm believer that when it comes to training, diet and supplements that everyone is different. What works for your friends, professional bodybuilders or athletes might not necessarily work for you. This is especially true when it comes to some supplements. I get emails all the time asking me what supplements I use, and asking for advice on what supplements to take.

There are some “staples” that I recommend to everyone. Whey protein, creatine, glutamine and dextrose. In my opinion anyone who’s serious about getting bigger and stronger should be using these. But there are loads of other products on the market…nitric oxide, creatine ethyl ester, testosterone boosters, amino acids, fat burners etc. So how do you know if these will work for you? You test.

protein.jpgBuilding muscle works like this…in the gym you break down your muscles with intense, heavy lifting. This training creates millions of tiny tears in the muscle. The inflammation caused, combined with extra blood in the muscle, is the reason why your muscles looked “pumped” when you train. Out of the gym you feed your muscles the right fuel enabling them to repair and grow more tissue to adapt to the requirements of your training.

whey_protein.jpgHow essential is whey protein for building muscle mass? That’s the question I’m going to be looking at today. I have been involved in many debates about exactly how essential supplements are for people trying to pack on some muscle, so here’s what I think about just how essential whey protein is to the average guy looking to pack on some pounds:
